Yoga and cycling?
Have you practised yoga and are a keen cyclist? Well if you are then you probably realise the benefits you are getting.Yoga is one of those things that can be fundamental in life, especially for cyclists. Why? Yoga teaches us to be more concious in our lives aswell as being more agile. The basics involved in yoga start in your breathing and although the techniques are very different in cycling the benefits go a lot deeper. In Yoga breathing is from the diagfram and through the nose and in cycling breathing in this way is impossible as we need to inhale and exhale in a more cardiovascular and dynamic way. However, focusing on your breath is yoga as it puts you in the present and increases your concentration. Simply by focusing your attention on your breathing and matching it to your pedal frequency can take the edge of a climb. At any time, although you may not think it, you can change the rhythm of your breath. It takes concentration and consciousness of your actions. See the effects and how your cycling changes. Rather than painstakingly climbing a tough hill with thoughts fed from the brain go straight to focusing on your breath and the mind will calm down and physically you will feel stronger!
