Spanish pedals

Spanish pedals

Yesterday evening I rode out to the pass of the wind in Ronda to enjoy a short spin. It is always a surprise to ride this route from Ronda and each time is beautiful. Usually I see a few cyclists on their way back from their regular ride to a low peak before reaching the pass. I have never encounted anyone at the pass so I expect to have the climb to 1000m to myself. Being away from the crowds is always special and the most magical part of cycling. I pushed on hard to the end keeping the pedals spininng with a continual rythmn until the top. How fortunate I feel to have the mountain and smooth road to myself and share the wish for others to one day enjoy. No cars or cyclists to be seen! At the top it was beautiful, looking back down the valley as the sun was setting. Over the pass appeared an english touring cyclist with panniers, "hola" I greeted him as he rode pass. 5 minutes later I set off down the mountain at speed passing the cyclist and descended for 30 minutes to home. I wish this experience to anyone as it is so special. When you have the road to yourself you feel blessed.
